Check out the October 2024 of Lexington Neighbors, Lexington South Carolina's local magazine, to learn more about Carinci Consulting's Founder Jennifer Carinci and her family.
Lexington Neighbors magazine is pleased to introduce our readers to the Carinci Wilson family of Olde Saluda Passage. Jennifer and Glen are dedicated professionals who value family time equally.
Both were born elsewhere, Glen in the Philippines as a military dependent and Jennifer in Redbank, NJ. Jennifer and Glen
met in the mid-2000s in Baltimore, Maryland. Glen was working as an Engineering Manager when, fortuitously, Jennifer got a temporary job at the same company. Jennifer recalls her desk being by a window and Glen stopping by several times a day to “check the weather outside.” On the last day of her employment, Glen asked Jennifer on a date, and she agreed. They enjoyed Jennifer’s art show . . .

Improving the use of evidence in teacher preparation is one of the greatest challenges and opportunities for our field. Chapters explore how data availability, quality, and use within and across preparation programs shed light on structures, policies, and practices associated with quality teacher preparation. Authors take on critical questions about the connection between what takes place during teacher preparation and subsequent outcomes for teachers and students.
Carinci launched the Advancing Research and Innovation in the STEM Education of Preservice Teachers in High-Need School Districts, or ARISE, program. ARISE is an outgrowth of AAAS’ work with the Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program. The Noyce program, funded by the National Science Foundation, responds to the critical need for effective STEM teachers to guide K-12 students. The program provides funding and support to colleges and universities to recruit STEM majors and professionals interested in becoming teachers and prepare them for elementary, middle and high school classrooms.
Carinci launched the AAAS-IUSE Initiative supports faculty and administrators in undergraduate STEM education by disseminating research and knowledge about STEM teaching, learning, equity, and systemic change. She conceptualized and wrote, as well as served as Principal investigator, of this Improving Undergraduate STEM Education (IUSE) effort funded by the National Science Foundation to lead national professional development, conferences, blogs, webinars, and resources.
The Engineering Research Visioning Alliance (ERVA) named Jennifer Carinci, Ed.D., PMP a veteran of STEM research and innovation to lead the organization as its inaugural full-time executive director. ERVA was launched by the National Science Foundation in April 2021 to unite the voices of the diverse engineering community and enable processes to effectively identify bold and societally impactful engineering research directions. It is an engaged, inclusive, multi-sector partnership, designed to leverage a diverse array of voices to elicit future research topics and support the nation’s leadership in engineering innovation and discovery. Funded with a five-year, $8 million award from the NSF, the initiative convenes, catalyzes and empowers the engineering community to identify nascent opportunities and priorities for engineering-led innovative, high-impact, cross-domain, fundamental research that addresses national, global and societal needs.
Carinci managed AAAS' administration of the L’Oréal USA For Women in Science fellowship program that has awarded 80 postdoctoral women scientists over $4 million in grants since 2003. Since 2005, AAAS has administered the program’s application and peer-review process. This highly competitive national award annually recognizes five U.S.-based women researchers at the beginning of their scientific careers.
“With the group of ambassadors that have been selected, there's a wide range of diversity in terms of geographical location, in terms of ethnicity, in terms of career stage,” said Jennifer Carinci, program director of STEM Education Research at AAAS. “It's important educationally for middle school girls to have this exposure.” The group of 125 ambassadors will serve as part of Lyda Hill Philanthropies' IF/THEN initiative, a $25 million program to fund and elevate women in STEM as role models. Ambassadors will participate in a variety of programs, from meeting with local Girl Scout troops to starring in network television series like CBS's Mission Unstoppable, a weekly program about women working on cutting-edge STEM projects.
While at CAEP Carinci spearheaded the development of a free course on family engagement, featuring three interactive modules that better prepare teacher candidates to communicate with families under a W.K.K. Kellogg Foundation grant.
